Veidekke ASA (VEI.OL) Thursday said that it has signed a 261 million Norwegian Kroner, excluding VAT, turnkey contract with the Porsgrunn municipality to construct a new environmentally certified extension at Mule nursing home, including a new emergency clinic. The extension will serve the municipalities of Porsgrunn and Bamble.
The Norway-based construction and infrastructure company said that the project comprises of a 7,650 square metres building over four floors in addition to a basement, featuring 64 new resident rooms and an emergency clinic. The new facility will be connected to the existing nursing home, which will remain fully operational during construction, it added.
According to Veidekke Group, the construction is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2026, with completion expected in the third quarter of 2027. The contract will be included in the company's order backlog for the fourth quarter of next year, the company added.
Commenting on the project, Lars N Hjertås, District Manager at Veidekke Building Vestfold and Telemark, said, "We are proud to enter into this agreement with Porsgrunn municipality to build a nursing home and emergency clinic, and we are very grateful for the assignment. In recent years, we have developed strong expertise in constructing healthcare facilities, and this project fits well into our portfolio of public projects."
On the Oslo Exchange, VEI.OL is trading at 173.00 NOK on Thursday, down 0.69 percent.
