CNOOC Limited has announced the safe commencement of production at the Buzios6 Project.
The Buzios oilfield, located in the Santos Basin offshore southeast Brazil, is recognized as the world's largest deep-water pre-salt oilfield. Buzios6 marks the seventh development phase of the field and is being executed through a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit combined with a subsea production system. A total of 13 development wells are planned, comprising six oil producers and seven injectors. With Buzios6 now operational, the oilfield's total installed production capacity has risen to 1.15 million barrels per day.
The FPSO deployed for Buzios6 is designed to produce up to 180,000 barrels of crude oil per day and 7.2 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, while offering a storage capacity of 2 million barrels.
In terms of ownership, CNOOC Petroleum Brasil Ltda., a wholly-owned subsidiary of CNOOC Limited, holds a 7.34% stake in the Buzios Shared Reservoir. Petrobras, the operator, retains an 88.99% interest, while CNODC Brasil Petróleo e Gás Ltda. owns 3.67%.
