OKYO Pharma Limited (OKYO) on Friday said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared single-patient expanded access, also known as compassionate use, of urcosimod for the treatment of severe neuropathic corneal pain.
Neuropathic corneal pain is a chronic condition marked by severe eye pain and heightened sensitivity that can, in some cases, spread to the face or head.
The company added that it plans to begin a Phase 2b/3 clinical trial of urcosimod in neuropathic corneal pain later this year.
