Telenor Reports Q4 Loss; Revenues Up 3%; Announces NOK 15 Bln Share Buyback Program

Telenor ASA (TELN,TELNY.PK,TEL.OL) Friday said that it slipped to loss in the fourth quarter, impacted by loss attributable to the disposal of Telenor Pakistan. The company's revenues, however, rose 3 percent, helped by good performance by the Nordic region. Telenor also declared an annual dividend and announced a share buyback program of 15 billion Norwegian Kroner.

The Norwegian telecommunications company reported net loss attributable to equity holders of Telenor ASA of 761 million Norwegian Kroner, or 0.56 Kroner per share in the fourth quarter, compared to net profit of 964 million Kroner or 0.70 Kroner per share in the same period last year. The loss was mainly due to a 3.04 billion Kroner recognised loss from the disposal of Telenor Pakistan.

On an adjusted basis, net income attributable to equity holders of Telenor ASA was 3.03 billion Kroner or 2.21 Kroner per share in the fourth quarter, compared to adjusted net income of 1.59 billion Kroner or 1.17 Kroner per share in the previous-year quarter.

Quarterly revenues rose 2.9 percent to 19.84 billion Kroner from 19.29 billon Kroner in the year-ago period.

Additionally, the company said that its Board has proposed a dividend of 9.70 Kroner per share for fiscal 2025 as well as a three-year share buyback programme of 15 billion Kroner, subject to necessary approvals.

On the Oslo Exchange, TEL.OL ended Thursday's trading at 161.90 Norwegian Kroner, up 1.25 percent.
