At 3.15 am ET, S&P Global publishes Spain's manufacturing PMI survey results. The factory PMI is forecast to rise to 49.5 in April from 48.7 in the previous month.
At 3.45 am ET, manufacturing PMI survey data is due from Italy. Economists expect the index to rise to 51.6 in April from 51.3 in the prior month.

The Federal Reserve policy session was in focus as it was the first to be led by the new chief Kevin Warsh. In Europe, central banks of the U.K. and Switzerland announced their rate decisions. In Asia, the Bank of Japan drew attention for its policy moves, while data out of China threw some light on the state of the economy.
