Fraport AG (FPRUY,0O1R.L,FRA.DE) Friday said that passenger traffic at Frankfurt Airport fell 11.0 percent year-on-year to 4.8 million passengers in April 2026, mainly due to six days of strikes by Lufthansa pilots and cabin crew unions, which affected around 500,000 travelers.
The German airport management company said that cargo volumes declined 0.6 percent to 168,526 metric tons, while aircraft movements dropped 11.6 percent to 34,623 takeoffs and landings. Maximum takeoff weights also decreased 10.2 percent to about 2.2 million metric tons.
Fraport said that within its international portfolio, Ljubljana Airport recorded higher numbers of 143,799 travelers, with passenger traffic rising 14.5 percent. Fraport's Brazilian airports in Fortaleza and Porto Alegre handled a combined 1.1 million passengers, up 5.0 percent. In contrast, Lima Airport saw traffic decline 3.5 percent to around 2.0 million passengers.
Overall, passenger traffic across all airports managed by Fraport fell 6.2 percent year-on-year to approximately 12.2 million passengers in April 2026.
On the XETRA Exchange, FRA.DE ended Thursday's trading at 67.75 euros, up 0.97 percent.
