The Japanese stock market has tracked to the upside in seven consecutive sessions, climbing more than 6,950 points or 10.9 percent in that span. Now at a fresh record closing high, the Nikkei 225 sits just above the 71,250-point plateau although investors figure to lock in gains on Monday.
The global forecast for the Asian markets is week after Iran closed down the Strait of Hormuz again over the weekend. The European markets were soft and the U.S. bourses were off and the Asian markets also figure to open in the red.

The Federal Reserve policy session was in focus as it was the first to be led by the new chief Kevin Warsh. In Europe, central banks of the U.K. and Switzerland announced their rate decisions. In Asia, the Bank of Japan drew attention for its policy moves, while data out of China threw some light on the state of the economy.
