Xilinx Designates Moshe Gavrielov President & CEO, Willem Roelandts To Continue As Board Chairman - Update

Monday, after the bell, Xilinx, Inc. (XLNX), a developer of programmable logic solutions, announced the appointment of Moshe Gavrielov as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the company with immediate effect. The company said Gavrielov would take over responsibilities from Willem Roelandts, who would remain Chairman of the Board.

Gavrielov is credited with nearly 30 years of executive management and engineering experience with semiconductor and software companies. Most recently, Gavrielov was functioning as executive vice president and general manager of the fast-growing verification division at Cadence Design Systems, Inc.

The San Jose, California-based company's Chairman, Willem Roelandts, said, "Moshe has an excellent track record in building semiconductor and software businesses, applying an outstanding blend of strategic, analytic, business and leadership skills, equally important is his commitment to a culture of innovation that honors the contributions of each and every employee, in keeping with the core values upon which Xilinx has been built over the past 24 years. Moshe's selection was approved unanimously by our board of directors, and we're fully confident that he is the right person to lead Xilinx through its next stage of growth."

For more than a decade, Roelandts has led Xilinx through an intense period of change within the semiconductor industry. Under his leadership the company's sales grew from $560 million to over $1.80 billion in fiscal year 2007. Under Roelandts administration, Xilinx was recognized by FORTUNE Magazine for its culture of modernization and management philosophy committed to addressing difficult economic times without resorting to layoffs.

XLNX closed Monday's regular trading at $20.46, up $0.10 or 0.49%, on a volume of 4.92 million shares on the Nasdaq. In after-hours trading, the stock further gained $0.01 or 0.04%, and was at $20.47.
