Leading beverage manufacturer Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. (CCE) Monday revealed the appointment of John Brock as its chairman and chief executive officer. As the new chairman Brock will be replacing Lowry Kline, who will be retiring after April 22, 2008.Brock joined Coca-Cola in May 2006 as president and chief executive officer. He played a key role in implementing strategies to enhance the company's financial performance and ensuring improved shareholder value. Under Brock's leadership the company identified strategic priorities of growing the value of existing brands and expanding the product portfolio, transforming the go-to-market model to improve efficiency and attracting, developing and retaining a highly talented and diverse workforce.Kline has been serving the Georgia-based Coca-Cola as Chairman of the Board since April 2002. Kline also served the company as Chief Executive Officer from April 2001 to January 2004 and for a second term from December 2005 to April 2006. Additionally, Kline held the post of Vice Chairman from April 2000 to April 2002.Phillip Humann, chair of the Board's governance and nominating committee said, Since joining Coca-Cola Enterprises in 2006, John has shown an exceptional level of leadership, direction and knowledge of the company and industry. The Board is confident that John will continue to transform CCE into a high-performance company as Chairman and CEO.Shares of CCE are currently trading at $23.47, up $0.19 or 0.82%, on a volume of 1.14 million.
