An Indonesian official disclosed that four persons from Java island died of bird flu in the past two months.
Reports quoting Bayu Krisnamurthi, chief of the National Bird Flu Commission, said the victims are believed to have been infected after coming into contact with sick poultry.
They included two children under the age of ten.
Indonesia, the country hardest hit by the disease, was severely criticized in recent months for refusing to immediately publish news of human deaths from bird-flu.
More than 250 persons died worldwide from bird-flu since it started ravaging Asian poultry stocks in late 2003, as per the World Health Organization (WHO) figures.
The world's largest archipelago-state, Indonesia accounts for nearly half of those fatalities.
