Robert James Ritchie, known to the world as Kid Rock, was born on January 17, 1971.The singer, known for such songs as "Bawitdaba", "Cowboy" and "All Summer Long," grew up in Michigan, in the area around Detroit. As a teen, Rock began DJ-ing and rapping.His debut album, "Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast," was released in 1990, but his career ran into some hurdles. Rock's record company failed to support the effort and eventually dropped him. Meanwhile, a New York radio station was fined nearly $24,000 for playing his "Yo-Da-Lin In The Valley."Rock put out two more albums before releasing his breakthrough "Devil Without a Cause " in 1998. He has released eight albums in total. His latest was 2010's "Born Free."
