2008 - Scott Weiland Leaves Velvet Revolver

Velvet Revolver, a band formed by former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash, announced that it was parting ways with singer Scott Weiland on April 1, 2008.

Weiland, who had risen to fame as the frontman for alternative superstars Stone Temple Pilots, had struggled with substance abuse problems and was known for strange behavior onstage. The singer had announced a couple weeks earlier at a gig in Glasgow, Scotland, that the band was on its final tour. The official announcement came shortly after the band's final gig on their European tour, which took place in Amsterdam.

The statement, issued by Slash, as well as fellow band members Dave Kushner, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum, read, "This band is all about its fans and its music, and Scott Weiland isn't 100% committed to either."

It went on to state, "Among other things, his increasingly erratic onstage behavior and personal problems have forced us to move on."
