The Eagles kicked off their “Hell Freezes Over” reunion tour on May 27, 1994. The group had split fourteen years prior and, when asked in 1980 if they would ever play again, Don Henley said they would “when Hell freezes over.” The band reconnected when country great Travis Tritt, along with a handful of other artists, compiled an Eagles tribute album titled “Common Thread: The Songs of the Eagles” in 1993. Tritt convinced the group to reunite for a new version of their classic track “Take It Easy.” After the sessions, they decided to reunite for a tour and live album. The group initially booked a 70-date U.S. tour that eventually turned into a two-year run around the world. By the end of the tour, the band had amassed $75 million in ticket sales and the “Hell Freezes Over” album sold more the seven million copies. It remained on the Billboard 200 chart for over two years.
