Bob Dylan Reaches Number One With 'Modern Times' Six Years Ago

2000 - Madonna Hits #1 With ‘Music’ (Song)
2000 - Madonna Hits #1 With ‘Music’ (Song)

Madonna hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart with her track “Music” on September 16, 2000. The song was released as the title track from Madonna’s eighth studio release, and followed her previous 2000 release “American Pie.”

When the track hit number one, it claimed the top spot from "Doesn't Really Matter" by Janet Jackson. She stayed at number one with the track through October 7, 2000 when "Come on Over Baby (All I Want Is You)" by Christina Aguilera grabbed the top spot.

The track gained popularity in part because of its video, which featured a cameo by Sacha Baron Cohen’s early character Ali G. Madonna was pregnant with her son Rocco at the time and covered up her bump by wearing a large fur coat.
