1974 - Barry White Hits #1 With 'Can't Get Enough'
1974 - Barry White Hits #1 With 'Can't Get Enough'

Soul legend Barry White got his only number-one album on October 26, 1974. The singer's "Can't Get Enough" LP reached the top of the Billboard 200 on that date, replacing Bachman-Turner Overdrive's "Not Fragile" in the top spot. The record would only reign for a week, before getting knocked out of the number-one position by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young's "So Far."

Not only was it White's only number-one album, it was one of only two White records to crack the top ten, though he would have seven LPs reach the top spot on the R&B albums chart. The 1977 effort "Barry White Sings for Someone You Love" reached number eight on the Billboard 200.

"Can't Get Enough" featured its namesake hit "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe." The tune was also a chart-topper - like the album it came from, the song was White's only number-one single. The LP also included "You're The First, The Last, My Everything" and the 10-minute track "I Can't Believe You Love Me."
