1996 - Thompson Square's Keifer Thompson Moves To Nashville

Thompson Square star Keifer Thompson moved to Nashville from his home in Oklahoma to pursue a music career full time on July 8, 1996. It was shortly after that he met his future wife and band mate Shawna at an open mic night in Music City.

Initially both planned on careers as solo artists but then signed with Stoney Creek Records as a duo in 2010. Their first single, “Let’s Fight,” earned the band immediate critical acclaim with Roughstock’s Matt Bjorke writing:

“In addition to being clever, “Let’s Fight” is a great introduction into a duo that brings a contemporary yet completely country vocal dynamic to the table with this song feeling a bit like something you might have found coming from David Lee Murphy. Vocally Keifer Thompson is similar to Murphy while I can hear more than a little Pam Tillis in Shawna Thompson’s vocal."
