1989 - Fine Young Cannibals Hit #1 With 'Good Thing'

The Fine Young Cannibals hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Good Thing” on July 8, 1989. The track was released off their album “The Raw & the Cooked” and featured the B-side “Social Security.”

When the track hit number one, it claimed the top spot from "Baby Don't Forget My Number" by Milli Vanilli. They held the top spot for one week before "If You Don't Know Me by Now" by Simply Red took over number one.

The track debuted at number 69 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the week of May 6, 1989 and quickly rose to number one. It became their second number one hit single, following their late-80s staple “She Drives Me Crazy.”
