1995 - Tupac Shakur Signs To Death Row Records
1995 - Tupac Shakur Signs To Death Row Records

Tupac Shakur inked a deal with Death Row Records on October 15, 1995. The new deal came following his release from prison in connection with a sexual assault charge.

Death Row chief Marion “Suge” Knight raised over $1.4 million to help secure Tupac’s release from the Clinton State Correctional Facility in Central New York. In exchange for the good deed, Knight demanded that Pac release three albums with Death Row.

His debut release for the label was the smash hit “All Eyez On Me,” which topped the Billboard 200 chart in March of 1996. Pac claimed the top spot with the album from “Jagged Little Pill” by Alanis Morissette and held on for two weeks at number one before Alanis regained the top spot.
