1968 - 'Beggar's Banquet' Pie Fight

The Rolling Stones held a press event for their classic album “Beggar’s Banquet” that descended into a pie-hurling food fight on December 5, 1968. The incident occurred at a hotel in Central London and brought further buzz to the hotly anticipated release.

The Stones were joined at the event by a host of luminaries from the British press as well as members of their business team. Members of the San Francisco rock scene including LSD pioneer Ken Keesey and members of the Grateful Dead were also in the house.

Brian Jones was by all accounts the favorite target for most during the pie fight, but all members of the band were hit. A former British Ambassador to America, Lord Herlach, was also targeted.
