Dr. Dre of Yo! MTV Raps! was born Andre Brown in Westbury, New York on December 5, 1963. Dre is best known for his hosting duties on the long running MTV show, which he helmed alongside Ed Lover.Dre and Lover have been a long standing team as hosts in the hip-hop media, not only working together on Yo! MTV Raps! but also co-hosting a show on a popular New York City radio station in the 1990s. As a duo they also appeared in the 1993 film “Whose The Man?”The MC and host first rose to prominence on the New York rap scene as a part of the Long Island-based group Original Concept. That group was formed while its members were attending Adelphi University and got an early bump from the school’s radio station, which also helped launch the career of Public Enemy.
