1994 - Stone Roses' 'Second Coming' Released

U.K. alternative rockers the Stone Roses released their second album, "Second Coming," on December 5, 1994.

The much-anticipated sophomore effort followed up on the band's highly regarded self-titled debut. That record came out in 1989 and featured singles like "Made of Stone," "She Bangs the Drums" and "Fools Gold." A legal dispute with their original record label delayed work on the next album, as did personal issues with band members and the sheer weight of expectations.

Response to "Second Coming" was tepid and the band began to disintegrate. In 1996, guitarist and songwriter John Squire left the band. There was an attempt to keep the Stone Roses going, but following a disastrous appearance at the Reading music festival that August, the group dissolved.
