Morgan Stanley stood in sixth position among the largest U.S. banks, with total assets of $828 billion. Founded in 1835, the New York-based bank operates in three business segments - global wealth management, institutional securities and investment management. The bank is said to have lost over 80 percent of its market value between 2007 and 2008 during the financial crisis.
