The 10 Worst Countries in the World For Health Care

Republic of Zambia
Republic of Zambia

The country with the tenth poorest healthcare system is Zambia, whose WHO health system performance index is 0.269. Zambia has a population of about 14 million people and is a landlocked country situated in Southern Africa. The population is concentrated mainly around the core economic hubs of the country: the capital Lusaka in the south and the Copperbelt Province in the north. The average life expectancy of Zambians at birth is 55 years. Diarrhea is the leading cause of child death because of limited access to clean drinking water and adequate sanitation. Almost half the population of Zambia is aged below fourteen because of the tremendously high birth and death rate. According to the World Bank, Zambia’s economy is growing at a fast clip and so is its expenditure. It is believed that this may lead to overall improvement in the state of its citizens. But improvement in the healthcare system depends on where the government channels the increased wealth.
