Beatles Legend Became A 'Sir' 14 Years Ago

1968 - Lisa Loeb Born

Folk singer/songwriter Lisa Loeb was born in Bethesda, Maryland, on March 11, 1968. Lisa grew up in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of a noted gastroenterologist.

Loeb began playing professionally while in college at Brown University. She formed a band called Liz and Lisa with celebrated children’s music artist Elizabeth Mitchell. Loeb found international fame after her track “Stay” was featured on the sound track of Ben Stiller’s 1994 film “Reality Bites.”

The track quickly shot to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and made Loeb the first artist ever to earn the distinction without being signed to a record label. Loeb had already enjoyed some interest from Geffen records at the time of the release and signed with the label later that year.
