1967 - Fleetwood Mac Make Live Debut
1967 - Fleetwood Mac Make Live Debut

The original lineup of Fleetwood Mac gave their first performance at the Windsor Blues and Jazz Festival in England on August 13, 1967. At the time, the band consisted of guitarist Peter Green, drummer Mick Fleetwood, slide guitarist Jeremy Spencer and bassist Bob Brunning.

The group had formed just months earlier by Green and Fleetwood and used their band name as a ploy to entice bassist John McVie to join the band. At the time, McVie was playing full time with John Mayall and Bluesbreakers and was reluctant to leave the gig in favor of an upstart band. He joined just weeks after their debut performance.

The Windsor Blues and Jazz festival boasted a crowd of over 30,000 fans, brought in largely to hear Eric Clapton’s newly-formed Cream, as well as Mayall. Having gained a deep fan base with Mayall, Green was a fan favorite when he took the stage with Fleetwood Mac for their set, which lasted 20 minutes.
