Billy Joel and model Christie Brinkley finalized their divorce on August 25, 1994. Brinkley was Joel’s second wife, having divorced his business manager Elizabeth Weber Small in 1982. After a brief relationship with model Elle Macpherson, Joel married Brinkley in 1985.Joel had suffered from severe depression prior to his marriage with Brinkley and was drinking and using drugs throughout their tenure together. According to the book “Billy Joel: The Life and Times of an Angry Young Man” by Hank Bordowitz, their relationship was far from enviable:“I’m married to Christie Brinkley and the comment I get is ‘Man, you’ve got it made . . .’ but you know what?
