Metallica released their fourth studio album “ . . . And Justice For All” on August 25, 1988. The release followed 1986’s “Master of Puppets” and includes the title track as well as “One,” “Harvester of Sorrows” and “Eye of the Beholder.”“ . . . And Justice For All” reached as high as number six on the Billboard 200 chart and peaked at a time when metal was dominating the chart. Guns N’ Roses held the top spot on the chart at the time with the signature release “Appetite for Destruction” and Def Leppard sat in the number two spot with “Hysteria.”The album marked a creative exploration for the band, who were pushing beyond their simple thrash metal roots into longer, more progressive song forms. It was a choice that Kirk Hammet says the band later regretted: "'Justice' was a bit much for me. I couldn't stand watching the front row start to yawn by the eighth or ninth minute,” he told So What! Magazine years later.
