1988 - NKOTB's ‘Hangin' Tough’ Released

Boy band pioneers New Kids On The Block released their second album, “Hangin’ Tough,” on September 3, 1988. The album was a second attempt at gaining fame for the group, as their self-titled debut – released in 1986 – flopped.

“Hangin’ Tough” also initially failed to find an audience, but eventually clawed its way to the top of the charts in 1989. It got a boost from five top-10 hits – including the chart topping “I’ll Be Loving You (Forever)” and the album’s title track.

To date, “Hangin’ Tough” has sold more than 16 million copies worldwide and is certified eight times platinum in the U.S. NKOTB reunited in 2008 after 14 years apart and continue to tour today.
