The Cranberries’ Dolores O’Riordan was born on September 6, 1971. The native of Limerick, Ireland, first joined the Cranberries in 1990, after an audition period during which she wrote lyrics and melodies to demos that had already been recorded by the group. The song that got her the job was a rough cut of the hit “Linger,” which would appear on the Cranberries’ debut album, “Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?” Though "Linger" marked an early highlight for the band, the Cranberries are perhaps best known for the 1994 track, “Zombie.” After success with the Cranberries through the 1990s, O’Riordan embarked on a solo career when the band went on hiatus in 2003. She released her first solo album, “Are You Listening?,” in 2007, and reunited with the Cranberries in 2009.
