2002 - DJ Jazzy Jeff Releases Solo Disc
2002 - DJ Jazzy Jeff Releases Solo Disc

With his former partner firmly established as one of the biggest names in Hollywood, DJ Jazzy Jeff released his first full-length solo album on August 13, 2002.

It featured such vocal talent as Jill Scott and Boyz II Men's Shawn Stockman. About a month and a half before "The Magnificent" came out, Will Smith, the one-time Fresh Prince, released "Born To Reign," which reached number 13 on the Billboard 200 chart. The LP included the cut "Black Suits Comin' (Nod Ya Head)," which was written for the movie "Men In Black II." The sequel, starring Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, came out that July and would eventually gross more than $400 million.

While "The Magnificent" failed to make much noise on the charts, its 2007 follow-up, "The Return of the Magnificent," reached number 25 on the Rap albums charts and number 55 on the R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart.
