1970 - Paul Files Suit To Dissolve Beatles

Paul McCartney filed a lawsuit with the High Court in London to formally dissolve the Beatles’ partnership on December 31, 1970. Though the group’s music was still massively popular at the time, their working relationship had ground to a standstill.

McCartney later claimed he was afraid the Beatles’ fortune would be swindled by their new manager Allen Klein and he knew the rest of the group would not be happy:

“Talk about traumas! Not only was the Beatles broken up, this fabbest of groups and these nicest of people, the other three Beatles, these true buddies of mine from way way back, these truest friends of mine were now my firmest enemies overnight,” he said in “Many Years From Now” by Barry Miles.
