Wilson Phillips reached the top of the singles chart with their signature track "Hold On" on June 9, 1990.The band, signed to a record deal the year before, consisted of the daughters of rock royalty: Carnie Wilson and Wendy Wilson, daughters of Beach Boys mastermind Brian Wilson, and Chynna Phillips, daughter of John Phillips and Michelle Phillips of the Mamas & the Papas."Hold On" was written by Phillips and songwriter Glen Ballard, who also produced the track, with additional lyrics contributed by Carnie Wilson. It was the group's first single, and the first of three number one tracks from their debut album. "Release Me" and "You're In Love" would also go on to top the charts."Hold On" took over the top spot from Madonna's "Vogue." After a week, it was replaced by "It Must Have Been Love" by Roxette.
