Genesis released their smash hit album “Invisible Touch” on June 9, 1986. The band’s thirteenth studio effort, it marked their first release since their self-titled album in 1983. It includes the hit title track along with “Land of Confusion,” “Throwing It All Away,” and “Tonight, Tonight, Tonight.”

While speaking with Billboard, Phil Collins said the group knew that “Invisible Touch” had hit potential early on.

“We were working on other songs and Mike (Rutherford) started playing that guitar riff . . . as soon as he started playing that I started singing ‘she seems to have an invisible touch.’ At the moment we just knew it was a great hook and then we just sort of wrote a song around it,” he recalled.

The album peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 chart and the title track topped the Hot 100 chart.
