The White Stripes released their self-titled full-length debut album on June 15, 1999. The album was released by independent label Sympathy and includes their first single, “The Big Three Killed My Baby.”The album shows the band’s early love for blues, with heavy use of slide guitar by Jack White. He allegedly picked up the technique from Johnny Walker of the Detroit garage rock staples the Soledad Brothers, who recalled to soundclick.com:"[Jack] had a four track in his living room and invited me to come by and do some recording. In return, I showed him how to play slide."The album was later released in Japan and featured a bonus track of the band’s fan-favorite track “Let’s Shake Hands.”
