1991 - Paula Abdul Hits #1 With 'Rush Rush'

Paul Abdul hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Rush Rush” on June 15, 1991. The track was released as the first single from her second album “Spellbound,” and followed her 1989 single “Opposites Attract.”

When the track hit number one, it claimed the top spot from "More Than Words" by Extreme. Paula held on through July 15 in the top spot when "Unbelievable" by EMF hit number one.

The track went on to be Abdul’s biggest hit single and was her fifth overall number one in the U.S. The video was inspired by the classic James Dean film “Rebel Without A Cause” and stars Keanu Reeves as a motorcycle racer before he was a celebrity.
