“The Dean Martin Show” premiered on September 16, 1965.

The series enjoyed a nine-year run on NBC, and featured such performers as Dom DeLuise, Nipsey Russel, Kay Redford and Lou Jacobi. The show also featured many recurring stars and guest stars, including Rodney Dangerfield, Tom Bosley and Charles Nelson Reilly.

The program featured a variety of recurring sketches, including a closet that would conceal a secret celebrity guest, whose identity was even usually unknown to Martin himself. When the show was canceled in 1974, Martin’s success on TV continued with a series of celebrity roasts.
