The Doors were banned from the “Ed Sullivan Show” on September 17, 2010, after an incendiary performance of “Light my Fire.” The band had been asked by show producers not to use the word “higher” during their performance because of its perceived reference to drug use. The band initially promised producers the word would not be used, but frontman Jim Morrison sang “higher” anyway, infuriating Sullivan. After the performance, an angry Sullivan told the band that six more planned performances had been canceled and that they would never play the show again.According to legend, Morrison famously replied, "Hey man, so what? We just did the ‘Ed Sullivan Show.’"
