The movie “Friday” starring Ice Cube was release on April 26, 1995. Cube starred in the film as Craig Jones, and unemployed but good natured slacker who goes on a quest to pay off a debt of $200 to a drug dealer.

Ice Cube starred alongside Chris Tucker, who plays best friend Smokey. Other co-stars include Nia Long, Bernie Mac, Tommy Lister, Jr., and John Witherspoon. In addition to starring in the film, Ice Cube also provided the script with co-writer DJ Pooh.

The film was a box office success, pulling $6,589,341 across the U.S. in its opening weekend, making it the second highest grossing film that week. It went on to spawn two sequels—“Next Friday” and “Friday After Next.”
