BJ Thomas hit the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “(Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song” on April 26, 1975. The track was released as part of Thomas’ album “Reunion,” and was written by Larry Butler and Chips Moman. When the track hit number one, it claimed the top spot from "Philadelphia Freedom"by Elton John. Tony Orlando and Dawn eventually knocked Thomas out of the top spot with their hit single “He Don’t Love You Like I Love You.”Speaking about the track’s inspiration, Moman told Billboard it wasn’t written for any specific singer or for any real purpose: “It’s just like the guy who wrote ‘Fly Me to the Moon,’ never had been to the moon. You do have to have some imagination.”
