1973 - 'Band On The Run' Released (U.S.)

Paul McCartney and his band Wings released their third album “Band on the Run” in the U.S. on December 5, 1973. The album includes the title track as well as McCartney classics including “Jet” and “Let Me Roll With It.”

“Band on the Run” held the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart for three different stretches in April, June and July of 1974. When it initially grabbed the top spot on April 13, 1974, it bumped “John Denver's Greatest Hits.” “Chicago VII” by Chicago ascended to number one the following week.

The title track also hit number one on the Hot 100 chart succeeding "The Streak" by Ray Stevens and holding on for one week at the top before Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods ascended with “Don’t Be A Hero.”
