Centro de Comercio Internacional at Bogotá, the capital city district of Colombia, is the eighth tallest building in South America. The skyscraper, also known as Edificio Bancafé, stands 192 meters (630 feet) in the international center zone of the city with 50 floors making up the height. Construction on the tower, designed and constructed by architect Cuellar Serrano Gómez, was started in 1974. The exterior of the building is clad in glass paneling and both lateral sides have just one vertical line of windows. When it was completed in 1977, the tower was the tallest building in Latin America, and continued to be so until the construction of the Torre Colpatria. It is now the third tallest building in Bogotá. As the name suggests, the building houses mainly commercial offices and is one of the most famous buildings of the city. When it was built, it was called Centro Las Americas.
