Ford launched the Edsel Corsair in 1958 to create a new brand positioned between the entry-level Ford and the medium-priced Mercury.

Despite new features such as self-adjusting brakes and automatic lubrication, critics called the automobile a “redecorated Mercury”.

The car failed to impress customers and ended up as a commercial failure after bankrupting many Ford dealers. It is also ranked among the ugliest cars.
