A vaccine for COVID-19 is being developed by the Institute of Medical Biology and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.Current Status: The vaccine is under a phase Ia/IIa trial in China.Mode of Action: This yet to be named vaccine contains an inactivated version of SARS-CoV-2. After vaccination, the immune system is induced to produce neutralizing antibodies against the novel coronavirus, thus building up immunity. Next Milestone:The phase Ia/IIa trial of the vaccine is expected to be completed by September 2021.
