Elvis Presley's famed comeback concert aired on NBC on December 3, 1968.

Presley had not performed live in more than seven years and had not had a number one record since 1962. The live performances for the TV special were recorded in June. Four one-hour live shows were taped at NBC's studios, with Presley dressed in black leather and put in an informal jam session with some of his most trusted musicians.

The set list for the show included "Jailhouse Rock," "Love Me Tender" and a medley of "Heartbreak Hotel"/"Hound Dog"/"All Shook Up."

The soundtrack for the special was released ahead of the show's broadcast date. It included cuts from several June recording sessions.
