Keith Richards was knocked unconscious by an electrical shock while stepping up to a microphone on stage on December 3, 1965. The Rolling Stones were performing that night in Sacramento, California and the incident occurred just as the band launched into their track “The Last Time.”According to the book “Keith Richards: The Biography” by Victor Bockris, Keith approached the mic to sing his part on the chorus and noticed the mic had twisted out of place. To move the mic, he banged the mic stand with his guitar, sparking the shock. The shock caused a large flash and Keith was knocked to the ground. The band stopped playing while support staff rushed onto the stage. The rocker was unconscious for roughly two minutes but recovered and resumed the show. Doctors later said he was likely saved by the thick soles on his shoes, which prevented the electricity from grounding.
