#5 Alvear Tower, Argentina
#5 Alvear Tower, Argentina

The capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires, houses the fifth tallest building in South America: the Alvear Tower. Currently the highest in Argentina, the roof of this spanking new skyscraper stands 235 meters (771 feet) high, atop 54 floors. Apart from the 54, there will be another two floors below the ground. Construction of this building began in March of 2012 and is expected to finish by the end of 2017. Once this 70,000-square-meter (753,000 square feet) building in the upscale Puerto Madero section of Buenos Aires is completed, it will have 175 condominiums with modern amenities. The condominiums will be of many types – floor areas will range from 330 square feet (100 square meters) to 1,600 square feet (500 square meters). Architect Pfeifer-Zurdo has designed this skyscraper being developed by the Anglo-Argentine Grupo Alvear owned David Sutton.
