An adjuvanted recombinant protein vaccine is being developed by Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical and the Institute of Microbiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.Current Status: The vaccine is under a phase I trial in China.Mode of Action: A recombinant protein vaccine consists of fragments of SARS-CoV-2 proteins (e.g. S protein) and is designed to trigger immune response by producing antibodies to the protein antigen (i.e, the virus) in a vaccinated person.Next Milestone:The phase I study is expected to be completed by September 2021.
