Kings of Leon released their fourth studio album “Only by the Night” on September 19, 2008. The album followed their 2007 release “Because of the Times” and includes the hit singles “Sex on Fire” and “Use Somebody.” The band’s biggest commercial success to that point, “Only by the Night” broke into the top ten on albums charts in ten different countries. It made a particular impact in the U.K. and Australia, where it won two BRIT Awards and has been certified nine-times platinum. Band member Nathan Followill revealed that many of the songs on “Only by the Night” were composed when he was under the influence of heavy prescription drugs:“Whenever I was taking them, I felt good. As soon as I started to come down, I was supposed to take another. After a while, I felt trapped. There was nothing to do and everything was kind of boring so I'd just write songs and, in the process, I really expanded my mind,” he told news sources after the release.
