Chile rounded off the top-ten list of most welcoming countries for refugees, with a score of 59. 89 percent of Chilean respondents are willing to accept refugees into the South American country, while 78 percent said their government should do more to help refugees. However, only 5 percent of respondents are willing to accept people into their homes. In September 2015, Chile’s government said it will take in families seeking refuge from Syria’s civil war, joining its South American neighbors in hosting refugees. The country said it would initially take in some 100 Syrian families.
