According to the survey, 88 percent of Canadian respondents are willing to accept refugees into their country, while 15 percent said they are willing to take refugees into their home. 66 percent of Canadians feel their government should do more to help refugees. In November, the new Canadian government announced a plan to resettle 10,000 Syrian refugees by the end of 2015 towards a total of 25,000 by early 2016. As of mid-May 2016, over 27,000 Syrian refugees have arrived in Canada since the end of 2015.
